What’s Next?

An author finishing a manuscript often experiences a mix of elation and sadness, feeling both a profound sense of accomplishment and relief, alongside a sense of loss, as they are unmoored from the daily task. This can lead to a bittersweet “book hangover” where the author is proud of their achievement but also sad to say goodbye to their characters in their story world, and often anxious about the next steps, like editing and publication.

The feeling of completion is usually tempered by the knowledge that the work is never truly finished. I am particularly sad to say goodbye to the characters I have lived with during the months I agonized over writing Purple Violets. For me, the next step is to immediately start planning a new project to regain a sense of purpose.

I thought you might want to know.

Blessings, dear friends,

I certainly believe that it’s a mixed bag of emotions! As a writer of poetry, I can relate to that! Writing a book is a completely different level. As a reader I can identify with getting to the end of the story and wanting more. You have the ability and God given gift of writing by taking on the characters identity, both emotionally and physically draining. Write on Drake!
