Loves Final Touch

Loves Final Touch

A daughter’s love for her mother is a connection forged even before the moment of birth. Throughout a daughter’s life, her mother shapes her life, supports her, and inspires her. They are guiding lights and pillars of strength, which is why countless poets have found solace and inspiration in celebrating the unique love between a mother and a daughter.

This bond isn’t limited until the end of life; it’s a constant presence formed before infancy, and rooted in a secure attachment throughout their journey together. A mother is a continuous source of affirmation and lifelong encouragement, helping her daughter to navigate life’s challenges, understanding that every decision we make shapes our path and the road not taken is shrouded in mystery.

The love and connection forged through a lifetime of touch and shared experiences are not severed by death. A mother’s memory and the enduring impact of her love continue to shape her daughter’s life, even after they are no longer together. In the last days, and at that final moment, as a mother faces losing her daughter, her touch becomes a powerful source of affirmation, reassurance, and profound comfort. Comfort knowing that her daughter was the very last person ever to touch her. At that predetermined moment, God took her still, silent body, washed her, held her in his arms, and welcomed her unto eternal life. What she leaves behind is a promise of her enduring love and the assurance of a reunion in heaven.

I put it this way. The ocean and its golden sunlight cloaks me in its tender warmth, while the sky turns into a multitude of watercolors of lilac, crimson, and sparkling sapphire. What is this place? It’s a whole other world. If God is an ocean, then we must be bound to the first wave of disciples to reach the shore. If God is the nighttime sky, then we must be that peaceful star just passing by.

My deepest condolences to my dear friend Mary Jo. May you find comfort from the words I was sent here to write at times like these. Our God is all-powerful and offers hope of a reunion in a place of eternal peace. A future where there is no more death, mourning, crying, or pain, and a place where God dwells within his people.

Wow!! It’s a flashback for me: my mother and her eternal effect on me, with so much to remember, her voice, touch and words of wisdom. As sad as it is for a daughter to lose her mother, it gives me cause to pass on to my daughters what my mother taught me. Her nurturing and patience and understanding and fervent prayers, all shaped me into a person that I still strive to be. I miss her beyond words and speak of her often when the conversations with my daughters warrant the occasion to pass on her cherished teachings. I wish for my daughters to regard me in the same way and carry on the lessons learned and the emotions to the next generation. The bond is real and lasts a lifetime. Hope everyone’s day has been a blessed one.
