As Time Goes By

As time goes by,

It’s time to loosen your grip on that stone, 

The one you always thought was home,

And you will realize that home is not a place,

It’s a state of mind.

“Let  it go.”

As time goes by,

You will learn to see yourself more clearly,

The boy who was too much of one thing,

And too little of another was actually

Everything he needed to be.

“Let yourself out”.

As time goes by,

You will let the big things become simple,

And that will be the day you really begin to live.

When you get confused with “What is.”

Hold onto the times that we said,

Nothing will ever change.

“Let it be”.

As time goes by,

You will say goodbye many times,

And your soft heart will shatter,

But it will still beat, and that will lead you,

To everything you need.

“Let it beat”.

As time goes by,

You will stop choosing wealth over peace,

Stop choosing money over time,

And you will find the treasures you seek,

Are in the smiles and laughter.

“Let them in”.

As time goes by,

The moments you remember when your life flashes past,

Are never the awful memories, my friend, it’s the joy,

The summer nights, the lazy days with loved ones,

The midnight chats and the morning hugs,

Let them happen.

“Let it all happen”. 

When the world seems chaotic, 

 I will choose to view it 

 From the hill overlooking the valley of everlasting love.
