Purple Violets: Synopsys

Ellen Winona Crandall was a woman, a mother, and an angel.

As a young child, she lived with a total absence of endearment in a family overrun with alcoholism and mental instability. The hope of finding affection of any kind was made impossible at the hands of her insufferable grandmother. The only solace she found was from writing pensive musings in a discarded diary and the tranquility offered by tending to her purple African Violets.

After years of abuse and neglect, she gave her shattered heart to a man who had nothing to offer but deceit, vilification, and unfaithfulness — a man who showed deep disdain for his sons, fueled by his entrenched obsession with procuring a daughter.

Because of his infidelity, her alcohol addiction, and mental torment, what could have been an opportunity for a renewed life for her ended in a devastating divorce.

Although the brothers’ collective experiences and family ties differed, their intense spiritual connection transcended the boundaries of normal brotherhood. Facing their destinies, each set out to find his own way. The younger brother initiates a resolute pursuit of his mother’s love and acceptance.

Left with many distressing and unresolved issues from his childhood, he faced an adulthood barren of the imperative love from the most important woman in his life.

Buried deep in her heart’s silent whisper, in what appeared to be the shell of a woman, existed a beacon of love in the darkness and an unspoken guide to forbidden dreams.

After many mysterious occurrences and thought-provoking questions, a turbulent confrontation between him and his mother ultimately reveals a secret that tears his world apart once again, releasing a whirlwind of intense and sometimes conflicting emotions — challenging him to find his place within the origins of his family.

Through his deep devotion and steadfast persistence, a lifetime of unspoken love, misinterpreted words, and unresolved emotions ensued between a mistrustful, neurotic, and unforgiving mother and a devoted son.

In your synopsis, I am already absorbed in Purple Violets and will read it as soon as I can! Ellen is very real to me. I believe everyone has a place somewhere and this tell-all book should be quite a heart wrenching story. I have already started to visualize things and we’ll see how close I come to the events that are revealed! Write on!!!
